This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies HomeDampLab (homedamplab.com) uses, why, and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, keep information on your device in the same way. Some are needed for a site to work; others are used for statistics or advertising and need your consent where the law requires it.
How consent works on this site
We use Google’s certified consent management platform. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for your choice before any advertising or analytics cookie is set. You can accept, reject or choose by purpose, and you can change your mind at any time with the “Privacy and cookie settings” link shown on the site.
Types of cookies we use
| Type | Set by | Purpose | Consent needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | HomeDampLab (WordPress) | Security, and keeping site administrators logged in. Regular visitors don’t receive login cookies. | No |
| Consent preferences | Google (consent platform) | Remembering the choice you made in the consent message. | No |
| Analytics | Google Analytics | Counting visits and seeing which pages are useful, in aggregate. | Yes, where required |
| Advertising | Google AdSense and its partners | Showing ads, limiting how often you see them, measuring them and, if you allow it, personalizing them. | Yes, where required |
Local storage used by our tools
Some of our free tools, such as a humidity log, save your entries in your own browser’s local storage so they are still there next time. That data never leaves your device, we can’t see it, and you can delete it from the tool or by clearing your browser’s site data.
Google advertising cookies
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show ads based on those visits. You can turn off personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How to control cookies in your browser
Besides the consent settings, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its privacy settings. Blocking all cookies may stop some parts of the site from working as expected.
